Oba Maja’s “Drops of Rain”

Posted in Uncategorized on October 1, 2014 by Peisithanatos Press

Peisithanatos Press is delighted to announce the forthcoming publication of “Drops of Rain”, the definitive collection of poetry by legendary Chicago street poet, Oba Maja.  A fixture of the city of Chicago for many decades, Oba can be found selling his poems on the streets of Wicker Park most days.  He was the subject of a beautiful mural (at Damen & Lake) by artist Jeff Zimmerman.  Many Chicagoans will also remember Maja’s outlandish performances with his band, The Cosmos Messengers, at The Double Door and other local venues.  Oba Maja’s poetry is unique, vibrant, and otherworldly—a perfect reflection of the man behind the words.  We are deeply honored to share Oba’s remarkable work with the rest of the world.

“Drops of Rain: The Complete Poems of Oba Maja” will feature original photographs by Julia Pello and a foreword by Ernestus Jiminy Chald.  100% of the proceeds from the sale of this book will go directly to Oba Maja.  Stay tuned for more information.
